Spencer is a stylish sweater knitted in fingering-weight yarn, making it perfect for everyday wear. The front panel as well as cuff and shoulder details are created using smocking stitch. The sweater is knitted in the round from the bottom up to the armhole, after which the front and back are worked separately. It is inspired by Lady Diana Spencer and her feminine and romantic style that owed much to the work of designer Laura Ashley. The sweater is influenced both by Ashley's love of smocking, and also early images of Diana, dressed casually in a floral skirt or capri pants, paired with a softly shaped sweater.
Spencer is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Byre = /collections/byre :link], a fingering weight yarn that is delightfully lofty and soft, created from a blend of Jacobs and Shetland fibres spun exclusively for us in a nearby Yorkshire mill.
Spencer is shown here in two colour ways.

The kits are available in nine sizes to fit from 28-62 inch chest:
Three-skein Kit: To make 1st size (71–76cm / 28–30in), 2nd size (81–86cm / 32–34in) and 3rd size (92–97cm / 36–38in) and includes 3 X 100g skeins of hand-dyed Byre in colour of your choice.
Four-skein Kit: To make 4th size (102–107cm / 40–42in), 5th size (112–117cm / 44–46in) and 6th size (122–127cm / 48–50in) and includes 4 X 100g skeins of hand-dyed Byre in colour of your choice.
Five-skein Kit: To make 7th size (132–137m / 52–54in) and 8th size (142–147cm / 56–58in) and includes 5 X 100g skeins of hand-dyed Byre in colour of your choice.
Six-skein Kit: To make 9th size (152-157cm / 60-62in) and includes 6 X 100g skeins of hand-dyed Byre in colour of your choice.
All kits also include a Susan Crawford Vintage drawstring project bag.
