Pattern - Can You Crochet a Toque?

[tabblock]
[tab1: This fascinating crocheted cloche hat pattern was originally published in the early 1930s. Crocheted from the crown downwards, increases are worked to create the correct fit, before additional shaping is worked to the brim of the hat to ensure it sits snuggly into the nape of the neck. Finally individual leaves are made which are then sewn around the brim of the hat. The original pattern from the 1930s only included instructions for knitted sleeves which seemed something of an oversight, so the pattern has been re-written to also include instructions for crochet leaves so you can use which ever method you prefer.

Can You Crochet a Toque? is knitted using [link: Susan Crawford Excelana North, fingering weight = /collections/excelana-4-ply :link] a soft, fingering weight 100% British wool, spun for us in nearby Yorkshire and dyed in-house by Susan and her team.

Theodora is shown here moddelling it in shade [productlink: Land Army Green = land-army-green :productlink].

The pattern instructions are for one sizes to fit measurements:
Finished circumference 56cm (22in) and contains clear written instructions and sizing chart.
